Hi,

We are Ed Impey and Vicky van der Wildt and we are Wildimp Woodworks. Based in Lewes, East Sussex, we have more than 25 years experience between us in the world of woodwork. Our educational backgrounds in art and design form a solid base from which we are able to create and construct all projects undertaken.

After graduating from a BA degree in Fine Art I decided I needed a more profitable skill and so went back to college to study cabinet making (City and Guild). Having finished this course I undertook an apprenticeship at a local cabinet makers before starting up my own workshop making furniture and joinery products. I did this for 5 years before going back to college to study architecture. After graduating I worked for a Brighton social enterprise which recycled waste wood. Here I took on the role of workshop manager and was in charge of turning waste wood into furniture and other products. This is where I met Vicky. After 8 years we decided to set up our own business, Wild Imp Woodworks!

VICKY.

I graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2007 with a BA (Hons) in Arts, Design and Environment and proceeded to study an MA in Anthropology of Material and visual Culture at University College London, from which I graduated in 2010. However interesting I did find the MA course, one thing became clear; I am not made to sit and write essays, I am a maker! In 2011 I completed a short building course covering everything from bricklaying to tiling and in 2012 I completed level 1 and 2 in Site Carpentry, both at Brighton College. It was also in 2011 when I started working alongside Ed to build furniture: tables, benches, shelving units and cupboards. And this is where my true passion lies!
